A sky full of clouds didn’t prevent the sun from peaking through this evening. It was a wonderful sunset and I was happy to see it.
Some days are just right. They are filled with great conversation, perfect work schedule, and safe drives home. Nothing but good news and happy, smiling faces.
Other days, like today, are just not that great. They are filled with heartache and pain.
One of our coworkers died suddenly yesterday. Heidi was a quiet person who did her job very well and kept to herself. She would eat with others and talk to anyone but most of her conversations consisted of asking others about their lives, their family, their interests. Very little of the flow came from Heidi. She listened well and asked probing questions. She was well liked and will be missed.
An impromptu gathering, a “service”, was held in the conference room to offer an opportunity for people to offer kind words and remembrances. More than 40 people came together to say nice things, cry a little and offer support to one another.
It will be a long week. I’m so thankful for the beautiful sunset. It was the highlight of my day.
