A Saturday in the Park

A walk in the woods can provide unique perspective on life.

For instance, Saturday, we gathered our God-daughters, Skye & Tyme, Ben and Emily and Emily’s friend, John.  Together we slogged through Cool Creek Park and learned a little about one another before the day was over.

When I say slogged, I mean it.  There were parts of the trail that disappeared into boggy, muddy tracks.  Some prior hiker had provided logs to walk across but they’d slowly settled to a lower layer of slime and were now just mud-covered rails.  This is where we learned the Tyme has no fear of mud.  She proved it by slipping off her shoes and wading through the slop.

At one point in our journey, we came upon a cool creek (thus the name of the park).  Skye decided that wading into the waters would provide relief to her weary feet.

Emily found that laying on the grass as if she were dead wouldn’t attract buzzards.

Ben jumped from rock to tree to post to bridge to fence to table to log to rock.

John is willing to let others pick his nose.

All in all, it was quite an educational day.
