Martial Law is Days Away

Donald Trump signed another dizzying number of executive orders (EOs) in the last two days. Let’s review them, shall we?

  1. Trump is cracking down on any truck driver who doesn’t speak fluent English. Of course, there are already laws on the books to address this, but why not say it again, and again, and again until every truck driver is stopped and given an English exam? To make sure our lives aren’t threatened by any language other than English.
  2. Trump is closing off Sanctuary cities, any federal aid to non-American citizens, and prioritize Americans over aliens. Interestingly, there are only two mentions of Criminal Aliens to which the EO refers.
  3. Trump is convinced that cars and automotive parts are a threat to our national security. He’ll put a stop to that, by God.
  4. Trump (or at least someone in his orbit) thought it was important to remember that 419 years ago, they erected a cross dedicating Jamestown. I’m not sure why.
  5. But the scariest of them all his Executive Orders is, STRENGTHENING AND UNLEASHING AMERICA’S LAW ENFORCEMENT TO PURSUE CRIMINALS AND PROTECT INNOCENT CITIZENS: For me, this is the one that is most terrifying. This seems like a precursor to martial law and a police state. It gives police permission to use all the force necessary with increased protections against prosecution. It instructs courts to clear the dockets of any pending legal actions against police. It inserts the military into localities.

And scariest of all, is the use of the word, UNLEASH. The military and police are no longer restrained. They’re off the leash. They’re free to attack, to bite, to tear, to destroy. And in the end, they will be praised for their actions, or at the very least protected from them.

Please understand, I have the highest level of respect for officers who put their lives on the line every single day. I am so grateful and I tell them every chance I get. I can’t begin to imagine the courage and dedication it must take to do their job. They deserve our admiration and respect. They deserve our support and our prayers.

However, everyone needs guardrails. Everyone needs boundaries. When you take off the leash, there’s no restraint to keep things in check. Our nation is based on law. And Order.

But here’s the thing, how can Trump honestly sign this document? Section 3.v orders to: seek enhanced sentences for crimes against law enforcement officers. And yet, on January 30, 2025, Trump pardoned men and women who raided the Capitol. Some of the assaults resulted in severe injuries, with 15 officers hospitalized. Four Capitol Police officers tragically died by suicide afterward. Multiple officers sustained traumatic brain injuries, and some had career-ending disabilities. And every one of the assailants were pardoned.

There is a clear disconnect between this order and reality. There is a massive gap between what Trump and his minions say and what they do. The only thing that matters to this administration is power; whether it is at the hands of the of the military or the mob. Mark my words on that. We are days away from martial law and yet, we pretend like it’s just another beautiful day in America.
