Some people require dogs to help them. It is a gift of nature that the family pet can change a person’s life. It is a specialized area of training for a dog and requires hundreds of hours of dedication from the master and the dog.
Some dogs help the deaf. Others help the blind. Some dogs notify the owner when a seizure is eminent. A few family pets have even been trained to detect hypoglycemic events for diabetic patients.
We’ve taken our dog’s talent to a higher level. She is not a dog that loves water and eats anything in her path, she is a specially trained Knitting Assistance Canine. She desires nothing more than watching my wife knit, pointing out when she drops a stitch, pearls twice, or chooses the wrong size needles for the type of yarn used.
