With a trip planned to Europe in the spring, I’ve started reading more about World War II.
One of my favorite authors is Stephen Ambrose. He is the author of several World War II books including Band of Brothers and Pegasus Bridge.
This book is not one of Ambrose’s best but it tells a fascinating story about the taking of the Pegasus Bridge in the very early moments of the D-Day Invasion. Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers both fail to give adequate acknowledgement of this important first battle of D-Day. For those interested in WWII history, this is a must-read.
