Hum Along

Perhaps one of the most annoying symptoms I’ve experienced is the constant “ringing” in my ears. However, in my case, it’s less ringing and more of a buzzing or humming. As the late summer days progressed and we could sleep with our windows open, I found that the buzzing was very similar to the sound of Cicadas singing their courtship songs.

It is quite annoying!

My audiologist and ENT have been AMAZING. I highly recommend them to anyone facing hearing difficulties.

However, what I’ve learned in this journey is that the ringing and hearing loss I’ve experienced may not be a result of Dysautonomia. The nerves of the ears are not a part of the autonomic nervous system. In fact, it might be a result of being old, which could be true of many things happening to my body.

Sore knees? Arthritis.

Hearing loss? Too much Rock and Roll.

Skin cancer? Too much sun exposure.

In the meantime, the hearing aids I’m picking up this week should make a big difference in my experience. If the test run was a good indication, I can say goodbye to the Cicadas. It won’t end some of the other symptoms I experience but my over-all quality of life will improve, and at this point, that’s the goal.

  1. Good for you
If you can alleviate a symptom (even if it’s a symptom of old age).

    Was not thrilled
