I know many of you are saying to yourselves, “Here goes Austin, whining again.” Okay…maybe not many of you but I know Brian is typing a reply even before I can get this posted.
But I must be honest with you. I have blinked my eyes and my oldest is eighteen and graduating from high school. Next Friday he will walk across the first of several stages and receive a blank binder (the diploma is in the mail).
It wasn’t that long ago that he was losing his first tooth, riding his bike without training wheels, and walking into kindergarten without turning around to wave goodbye. I don’t know where the years went but they went too fast for my taste.
Let me be one of the first to say what a good man my son has become. He is not without his faults, foibles, and flaws. But he strives to do right, serve others, and love God and there isn’t anything more that a father can ask of his son. Except to make his bed once in a while.
Please pray for this man as he prepares for his first fall semester at IU. It is an interesting time of life for him. And for us all.
